INVEST IN ME!

Performance venues 2012-13: Sophiensaele/Berlin (D), brut/Vienna (AT), Schauspielhaus Gessnerallee/Zurich (CH), Dampfzentrale/Bern (CH), Mousonturm/Frankfurt a.M. (D), FFT/Düsseldorf (D), Tuchlaube/Aarau (CH), Kampnagel/Hamburg (D),
It has been a long time since a movement said that it wanted to and could change the world. Now there is another one – they call themselves social entrepreneurs and want to change the world not collectively-politically, but privately-entrepreneurially. The 68ers planned the great social upheaval, but often lost themselves in endless discussions. Social entrepreneurs, on the other hand, don’t want to talk, they want to do something.
Convincing others of one’s own vision is an artistic activity, because it requires representing something that is not yet. This can only be done by aesthetic means, e.g. visual, narrative or performative. Thom Truong brings social entrepreneurs together with representatives from various arts disciplines who prepare them for their persuasive performance. In Invest in me! the social entrepreneurs then take the stage to convince both the audience and real investors of their visions on the performance evening. Both should invest in them – time and money.
